The Healthcare Debate
From the floors of state legislatures and the halls
of Congress, to
Presidential campaign war rooms and corporate boardrooms,
healthcare
has come to the forefront of national domestic policy
debate. In
Washington, D.C., the debate is beginning to occupy
center-stage in the
2008 race to fill the White House with hopeful candidates
putting
forward plans for sweeping national reform and discussing
the crisis on
the campaign trail.
At the state level, healthcare policy reform proposals
have been
introduced in California, Washington, Colorado, Illinois,
Pennsylvania,
and several other states. In Washington, D.C., the
debate is beginning
to occupy center-stage in the 2008 race to fill the White House with
hopeful candidates putting forward plans for sweeping
national reform.
What is clear is that the status quo is unacceptable
to the American
people, the business community, labor leaders, employees,
healthcare
providers, and advocates and as a result politicians
are starting to
respond. Over the course of the next several years,
this debate will
continue to develop and action will be taken because
the current system
is so badly broken.
As part of CAHR’s ongoing involvement in the debate, we are committed
to providing up to date and easy to digest information
on policy and
developments across the country. We will continually
update our web
site as they discussion unfolds, proposals are put
on the table, and
additional research on this crisis and solutions to
it is available.
